We have now finished the new street course and mini ramps and it is open for customers to use.

The course consists of a 4ft mini ramp, with a 12ft sloped wall ride extension. Off the back of the mini is a camel hump/wall ride, a volcano with a stalling post in the middle, a driveway with a grind box and a jump box with and angle iron sub box.

Running along the back of the course is a 12ft monster flat bank which is great for gaining speed, a small 4ft quarter pipe to sub box. And a ¼ / flat bank set up which has another 3ftr ¼ pipe running along the platform.

The course is challenging enough for experienced skaters or riders and also suitable for beginners. There are numerous lines, gaps and transfers that you can take. There are lots of variations of rails, boxes and coping that you can grind creating a course with immense scope for creativity.

Overall the street course has something for everyone, weather you like to go big and some crazy gaps or just like to chill and pull a few grinds it’s all there. Come down and check it out!!

Chernobyl visit to The Front

Same as last year we had a smiling group of kids and helpers come down to test their skill on our legendary wooden carved ramps and like the year before they were no let down !

Everybody, including the Front staff, had a great time - its a shame they couldn't stay longer.

Thanks for coming down, you're always welcome.

The Front wins £1,000 in the first round of ITV Meridian's Local Hero Competition !

Celebrations at The Front ! We've won £1,000 in the first round of Meridian's Local Hero Comp - part of ITV's Britain On The Move, "a national initiative encouraging everyone to improve their health and quality of life, and make a real difference in their community."

Kit - local Sk8park Campaigner since 1998, and still helping with fundraising and development - was chosen to take part in the Local Hero Competition, and Meridian filmed her at The Front with some of our young volunteers and staff, and at home with seven years worth of Sk8park files and folders. When the programme went out, we were amazed to find that Kit and the Sk8park had been awarded most votes by Meridian viewers in our area!

As a result, last week Kit went with some of our staff and volunteers to join ITV presenter Fred Dinenage and other Local Hero finalists on the Watercress Line steam railway in Hampshire, to film a half-hour programme. It was a really fun day out - the highlight for Kit was being allowed to shovel some coal into the steam engine!

The programme is called "Britain on the Move". It goes out this Tuesday 19th April 05 at 7.30pm on ITV 1. Presenter Fred Dinenage talks to Kit and the other finalists, there'll be film of the Sk8park, and viewers then get the chance to vote for the overall winner of the Local Hero Competition.

The number to dial to vote after the programme on Tuesday is 08000 961010

There's more money to be won, so please use your vote to choose your favourite Local Hero!!

You'll be pleased to know that the £1,000 we've already won will go towards new ramps for the Skatepark.

The Front hosted 'The Sprite Urban Sessions' on Friday - it went off with a bang !

All that were invited came down and gave it their all, proving that they had what it takes to stand out.

Some of our local riders and skaters were asked to be put into the shortlist for a chance to compete in the next Sprite Urban Games. There was strong, fresh talent in the breakdancing workshop too !

Everyone had a great day and will be looking forward to the big event.

A big, big thanks to all the very talented and patient people that held the Skateboard, BMX, Breakdancing and Mixing workshops - very impressive.

Also a big thanks to the whole of the Sprite and MTV crews and everyone else that made the day work.
